Teenager Pleads Guilty To Buglary, Theft

Lagos, – A Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, on Friday remanded a teenager, Fawas Adedokun, for allegedly burgling an apartment and stealing property worth N286,000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Sadiq Bello, ordered that the defendant should be kept at the  Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending review of the case and  sentencing, on Jan. 26.

The teenager had pleaded guilty to a  three-count charge.

Eighteen-year-old Adedikun, who has no fixed address, is charged with burglary, stealing and  damage to property.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Sadiq Adewale, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 23 at Block 8, Flat 5, Rabiatu Thompson Cresent, Shitta, Surulere.

Adewale alleged that the defendant broke into the apartment of one Nasifat Ganiyu with the intent to commit the crimes.

He said that the defendant stole one standing fan, one air-conditioner, a Samsung television set, a gas cylinder and cooking pots, all valued at N286,000.

The prosecutor submitted that the alleged offences contravaned Sections 287 (1), 307 and 308 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
