Governor Wike spoke on Sunday when he inspected work on the on-going Eleme junction to Onne Junction Federal road, Trans Amadi-Garrison-Slaughter road with Bridge and the NLNG road with Bridge in Port Harcourt.
He undertook the Sunday road inspection after church service in defiance of a downpour.
He said that his administration would work with the contractors to ensure that they overcome the challenges posed by the rains.
The governor said : “By the nature of the climate in Rivers State, we have rains almost all throughout the year. We will therefore not allow the rains stop the pace of work.. [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560”]
“We acknowledge the challenges faced by the contractors because of the rains, but we shall continue to fund these road projects to completion”.
He said that the road leading to the Trans Amadi Industrial Layout will be completed in line with the agreement reached with the contractor.
Responding, Managing Director of Reynolds Construction Company, Mr. M. Nakhja, contractors of the Trans Amadi-Garrison-Slaughter road, said that his company will execute the road within the time frame agreed with the Wike administration.
He, however, complained of the rains, which he noted is affecting the speed of work. Mr Nakhja stated that more equipment have been deployed on the road to increase the tempo of work.
