Abuja (Sundiata Post) — The duo of the Director, Planning, Research & Statistics at the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Olusegun Adekunle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Saadat Ismaila, have been elected the new Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively of the FCT Abuja chapter (Capitol Assembly) of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association.
The election, which took place on February 25, witnessed a change of guards at the helm of affairs of the alumni association as a new executive was elected to pilot its affairs for the next two years.
A statement issued by the newly elected Public Relations Executive (PRE), Abdullahi Ridwan Olalekan, listed other officers that were elected at the well-attended election’s meeting.
The new executive includes Yeye Bolanle Olatunde, member, editorial advisory board of Sundiata Post Media Ltd as the General Secretary; John Freeman Ondoma (Assistant General Secretary); Zubairu Attahiru (Treasurer); Eno Essien (Social/Welfare Secretary); Yusuf Surajudeen (Financial Secretary) and Olalekan (PRE).
In his handover notes, the immediate past chairman, Oba Adetayo Haastrup, who shall serve on the executive as an ex-officio member, expressed pleasure at the well-attended event and pledged his continuous support for the Alumni Association.
In his acceptance speech, Adekunle thanked the Capitol Assembly for the confidence reposed in him and his team, and promised to, among others, deploy technology in improving the Alumni database, as well as reach out to many more distinguished alumni towards making the Capitol Assembly a model chapter that it should be.
He also promised that his team would review the association’s constitution and bye-laws, as they affect the FCT Chapter.
Adekunle, who charged members to be committed, also harped on the need for all hands to be on deck towards making the April 22, 2017 Alumni Reunion Day a memorable one.
