LOKOJA – A cross section of electorate in Kogi on Saturday urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ignore pressures on it to shift the dates of the general elections.

conduct credible polls.
Mr Patrick Ebulu, a shop owner, said he registered at Adankolo Primary school and had since collected his voter card.
He said majority of those calling for shift in the dates of the elections might not have been captured by INEC.
Malam Abdulrazaq said INEC should be allowed to conduct the polls. “I will join other eligible voters to vote for my choice candidate. Even if the dates were shifted, it will not change anything.’’
Mrs Rebecca Achum, a civil servant said, “INEC must remain undaunted, otherwise, its credibility will be affected.’’
“The elections timetable was released long time ago, the authority should have supported INEC with timely release of funds to print the PVCs.
“As a public servant, I do know that the challenges of INEC are not unconnected with late releases of funds; so it should go on with the elections’’, he said.
On her part, Hajia Zainab Tukur, said she was indifferent whether the elections were postponed or not, adding that INEC must stand against steps to ridicule it.
Mr Seun Ojo, a public servant, said the federal government ought to have declared two days work-free to enable its workers to collect PVCs
“The government and INEC should have simplified the processes of collecting the PVCs to avoid agitations to shift election dates due to low percentage of people who have not collected. (NAN)
