Abuja – Barely three weeks to Christmas celebration, some recreation parks are beginning to upgrade facilities in anticipation of the expected massive increase in patronage during the season.
A survey conducted by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, revealed that most parks in the FCT are giving their facilities a facelift.
A visit to Magic Land, formerly known as Wonderland, showed that the management was not leaving any stone unturned in making sure that security and operations were generally strengthened.
Mr Paul Oko, the personnel manager of Magic land told NAN that with Christmas around the corner, there was an urgent need for increased vigilance in the sector in order to avert any threat to visitors.
“Families are expected to visit many of the relaxation spots in droves and people want to feel that they can visit such public places in safety with their loved ones.
“We also recognise the fact that a lot of people would not want to compromise on their leisure and safety.
“We clearly owe them a duty of care; even if it means going out of our way to ensure that they have their fun in safety,” Oko said.
He said that Magic Land was out to make sure that their visitors were rewarded and had fun-filled season celebrations.
“Come December 12 and 13, Magic land will be organising a bazaar celebration for its customers and there will be free ticket entries for the two day event.

“The free ticket is for all and a lot of funfair is guaranteed for both young and old,’’ he added.
Meanwhile, NAN’s visit to the Millennium Park met only the presence of security officials at the gate who were not authorised to speak with the press.
“We are not authorised to talk to the press, but I will advise you to come back when the manager will be around,’’ the official said.
However, at the Millennium Park, NAN observed that workers were seen clearing the field and cleaning the environment apparently in preparation for the yuletide.NAN)
