Ikorodu – A 42-year-old Monsurat Banjoko, who allegedly obtained N175,000 under false pretence, appeared on Wednesday at an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Banjoko, who is of no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and obtaining money by false pretence.
The prosecutor, Sgt. John Iberedem, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 14, 2019 at Ikorodu motor park at about 4:00 p.m. in Ikorodu.
Iberedem said the accused fraudulently obtained the sum of N175, 000, being payment for one year shop rent from one Mrs Omolara Fatuga.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the offence contravenes Section 314 and 287(9) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015. (Revised)
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against her.
The chief magistrate, F.A Azeez, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N150, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until April 16 for mention.
