Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi has congratulated Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero on his coronation as the 15th Emir of Kano, urging him to continue to use his office to promote peace.
Bello made this known while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sidelines of the Coronation Ceremony Bayero as the 15th Emir on Saturday in Kano.
Bello urged the newly turbaned emir to work closely with the State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and the civil authorities to ensure security, unity and peace.
He reminded the Emir that Kano was one of the most influential cities of Nigeria, and indeed Africa, and must set example in peace and harmony.
“I want to congratulate his Royal Highness, Alhaji Aminu Bayero on this auspicious occasion of his coronation as Emir of Kano.
“Kano is one of Nigeria’s influential cities and plays a key role in the peace, unity and security of the country.
“As an advocate of a united Nigeria, I will urge the Emir to use his position to continue to foster peace in the state and beyond.
“And also to work closely with the governor of the State, Abdullahi Ganduje and the Civil Authorities in the state,” Bello said.
The governor also expressed his appreciation to the good people of Kano for the rosy welcome they gave to him on arrival, pledging to always support them and their course.
“I am still shocked at the wild reception I received on entering Kano yesterday and I appreciate the people of Kano for their love and support.
“I am a Zaria boy, and Kano has always been my second city, but always low key.
“To come here for a private visit and run into this kind of wholehearted reception? I am humbled and proud at the same time.
“Whatever it is they want from me, let them be rest assured that I will give it to them 100 per cent,” Bello said.
NAN reports that Bello joined his host counterpart Ganduje to receive Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo at the Aminu Kano International Airport before proceeding for the coronation.
They were also accompanied by the governors of Lagos State, Jigawa , Sokoto, and Kastina among others.
