Gusau – The Zamfara Government, has called on organisations, cooperatives and the public to patronise the services and products of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) to improve on the nation’s revenue.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Abdullahi Shinkafi, made this call on Monday in Gusau at the 2016 Word Postal Day celebration and Customers’ Forum, organised by the state branch of NIPOST.
Shinkafi noted that there were several services now available in NIPOST in line with ”our official, commercial and personal activities.
”Therefore, we should ensure good patronage of these services; apart from its benefits to our activities, it will also assist us in improving the nation’s sources of revenue.
”Besides, NIPOST will also restore the writing culture among our children through letter writing”.
Shinkafi said that with the neglect of NIPIOST activities, due to the emergence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), writing culture among children was no longer there.
The SSG said the State Government would partner with NIPOST in advertising and advocating its products and services as well as enlightening the public on the importance of this development.
In their separate remarks, the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulkarim Tsafe and the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Umar Jibo, described the occasion as a welcome development.
They noted that the partnership between NIPOST and the State Government would assist in improving education, economic, and social status of the people of the state.
Earlier, the state Area Postal Manager, Mallam Abubakar Ibrahim, said the forum was organised to showcase NIPOST’s various products and services to the public.
Ibrahim lauded the support and cooperation accorded NIPOST by the State Government and other stakeholders in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to outstanding customers of NIPOST.
The customers included private organisations as well as individuals.
