Gusau (Zamfara) – The Zamfara Police command has confirmed that 13 persons were killed in Tungar Wabi village of Dangulbi district in Maru Local Government Area of the state by `Yansakai hoodlums.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Sanusi Amiru, disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Gusau.
Amiru said the attack was carried out by the ‘Yansakai criminals from Wabi village in the same district.
He said although the group had since been outlawed by the police, its members had continued to unleash terror on innocent citizens in parts of the state.
He said the police found that members of the group conspired with members of a similar gang from Kebbi to commit the crime.
According to him, the attack was carried out on Wednesday evening around 6 p.m. when the people of the village were preparing for their prayers.
He, however, said that following prompt action by the police, two suspected members of the gang were arrested and were already assisting the police in their investigations.
The PPRO also said one locally made dane gun, cutlasses and some charms were recovered from the brigands.
