Lagos -Seyi Akinwunmi, Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), on Thursday commended Falade Oyekan for donating two sets of jerseys and a trophy to the association.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Oyekan, who is the chairman of Lagos Division Football Association (LDFA), donated the items at the LSFA secretariat in Onikan.
Akinwunmi said that such gesture was a good way to encourage and empower grassroots football in Lagos.
“I’m happy and delighted to receive these sets of jerseys and trophy as donation from Prince Falade; this is something important and close to my heart.
“What the donor has done is his own way of supporting the development of football at the grassroots and this is commendable,” he said.
The chairman urged other individuals in the state to emulate Falade, noting that nothing is too small to develop football.
“I want to use this medium to reach out to everybody, no matter how small, they can always support LSFA effort to empower kids in football,” he said.
Oyekan, who donated the items, said that it was his own little way of contributing to football in Lagos.
The donor, who is also the chairman, committee of grassroots development of LSFA, said that he would not relent on efforts to move the sport forward.
