Aregbesola Boosts Commerce In Osun With Ultra Modern Ayegbaju Market

The commitment of the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State to make the state the hub of commerce in the South West got a boost recently with the commissioning of an ultra modern Ayegbaju International Market at, Osogbo, the state capital

This informed various government programmes and project targeted at encouraging commerce in the state.

Such projects include the construction of a befitting Saw Mill along Iwo road in Osogbo to accommodate the displaced saw millers of Orita Olaiya junction; the on-going massive construction of Aje Market located along Iwo road; the Dagbolu Regional Market located along railway to boost interstate commerce to mention but a few.

The multibillion naira Ayegbaju Market that is founded on about eight hectares of land is a structure to behold judging from the facilities put in place to make the market worthy of being referred to as an international market.

Two of the three phases designed for the market are already completed while the third phase will be completed soon judging from the extent of construction work on ground.

The first phase has the following facilities Mini Stall, Open Stalls, Ware House, Lock-up Shops, Exclusive Shops, Fire Station, Daale Market, Police Station, Bank, Medical Centre, Church, Bukateria, Meat and Fish Stall, Wash bay Coldrooms, Cafeteria, Public toilets, Road Network, Drainages, Entrance Gate and Gate House, Public Toilets and Taxi park.

The second phase that was also commissioned has lock-up shops, Exclusive Shops, Administrative and Maintenance Offices, Administrative Lodge, Market Coordinator Office, Cafeteria, Mosque, Car Park, Exit Gate and Gate Houses, Public Toilets, Electricity Transformers and Distribution Networks, Underground and overhead water tank, CCTV Cameras and Installations, Public Address System, Two Industrial Boreholes, Water Reticulation, and Electricity Generators.

The third phase will have a Petrol Station, Mega Shopping Mall to accommodate Cinema and Multipurpose Event Hall, and 3-Star Hotel.

Besides, provision was made to accommodate petty traders, sellers of food items and ingredients to facilitate easy access to domestic needs of users of the market.

A careful assessment of the facilities in the market shows that it has taken care of all it requires to have a healthy and stress free day for the traders and their customers.

Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Rauf Aregbesola expressed his commitment to the welfare of the people of the state irrespective of their religion or political affiliation promising to make Osun the nerve centre of commerce in the South West and Nigeria at large.

Addressing the huge crowd consisting of top politicians, traders and market women that filled up one of the parking lots of the sprawling complex used for the commissioning, the elated governor said the successful construction of the market was a testimony that his administration’s less than four years rule could not be compared with the seven and a half years of his predecessor.

Aregbesola said he was happy that the people of the state appreciated his government for its various development projects, saying that the acceptability of his programmes and projects continued to motivate him to do more.

While giving assurance that what the people have seen will be a tip of the iceberg to what he would do when re-elected for second term Aregbesola said the development agenda of his administration has translated to progress for individuals saying that the people of the state should consider themselves lucky to witness the transformation that is going on in the state.

Earlier in his welcome address, commissioner for regional integration and special duties, Ajibola Basiru, who lauded Aregbesola’s initiative at transforming the state, hinted that government would also replicate the market at Ilesa and Ile-Ife.

He said, “May I unequivocally state that in Nigeria today, true leadership has been clearly defined in the personage, tact, intelligence and patriotism of this astute administrator, visionary leader, society builder and action governor. For no time in the history of Osun has the structural and social transformation of the state been attended to with such zeal and passion as that of our most respected Atunluse governor”.

Also speaking, the developer, Atilade Olufemi of Edward Property Konsult Ltd disclosed that the first and second phase of the market that has been completed gulped a whooping N2.32billion.

He noted that the construction work in line with one of the integral action plan of government to banish poverty provided employment to no fewer than 1.3 million indigenes which included professionals, artisans and casual workers.

He gave assurance that the third phase of the market will be completed soon adding that traders have started moving in to enjoy the provisions made by Aregbesola’s administration. (Leadership)[eap_ad_3]
