Lagos – A Chinese, Zhu Jinxin, who allegedly tried to export some logs of wood to China, was on Monday granted N10 million bail a Federal High Court in Lagos.
Justice Rabiu Shagari, also granted Jinxin two sureties in like sum as part of the bail condition.
He ordered that the sureties must be civil servants and must show evidence of tax payment.
The accused, who resides at Akura Estate, off Adeniyi Jones St.,ikeja, Lagos is facing a charge of unlawful exportation of wood.
Jinxin, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Mr Ajakaye Iyiola told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov.16, 2015, at Tin-Can Port, Lagos.
He was alleged to have brought several logs of wood in a container with number MOAU 0066913/9 for the purpose of exporting to China.
The container was alleged to have been seized by the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS).
The offence contravened of Section 64(1) (b) of the Customs and Excise Management Act, Cap C45 of Laws of the Federation, 2004.
Shagari adjourned the case to Oct. 4 for trial. (NAN)
