Cairo – The death toll in a furniture factory fire that erupted in North Cairo has mounted to 24 while a similar number of people were injured, a health ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
Report said most of the victims were workers at the factory, located in the town of Obour.
The ministry said the fire was caused by explosion of gas cylinder inside an elevator.
It added that the factory did not have safety clearances.
Meanwhile, about 30 fire trucks were dispatched to put out the blaze and the army was also called in to help and the fire had been extinguished. (dpa/NAN)
