Divorce: Housewife agrees to return N120,000 dowry to husband

OMU-ARAN –  A housewife, Zainab Waheed, Thursday agreed to the  N120,000 dowry  demanded by her husband, Mohammed,  as condition for the dissolution their marriage.

The money was paid to Mohammed  as dowry.

Zainab, who lives in Awoyinka Area Otun, had 12 approached an Omu-Aran Area Court  to seek  the dissolution the five-year- marriage.

She told the court she was no longer interested in the union  which was yet to produce any child.

“I was forced to marry him against will; I know quite well husband had spent much me.

“I am ready to the N120,000 he demanded as condition for divorce. I am no longer interested in the union,” she  told the court.

Mohammed, who is the Sarkin Fulani of Isanlu Mokutu, pleaded the court to assist him to reconcile .

He said he had spent so much on and her family, assuring he would continue to good care of  her.

The , Mr Abolade Banigbe, said the court did its best to convince the  to change her stand but to no avail.

He said the court had no option to dissolve the union.

“I have tried best to reconcile the couple but the plaintiff stood her ground.

“Since she agreed to the dowry as demanded by her  husband, the marriage had ceased to exist from now,” Banigbe said. (NAN)
