Abeokuta- Mrs Olufunso Amosun, wife of Ogun State Governor, on Tuesday urged traders to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from INEC, to avoid being disenfranchised during the 2015 general elections.

She said this during a sensitisation tour of the Omida Market of the Abeokuta South Local Government Area of the state.

She said that the PVCs were the voters’ weapon to vote in the candidates of their choice.

She explained that though the date set aside for the collection of PVCs and Continuous Voter Registration had closed, there was still opportunity for people to do so at the INEC offices in the local government areas.

Amosun noted that the tour was necessitated by reports that many traders were yet to collect their PVCs after registration had expired.

“Everybody’s vote counts, so I implore you all to endure the queue at the registration centre and ensure you obtain the PVC,” she said.

She, therefore, called on the traders to spread the message across the local government areas that PVC could still be obtained at INEC offices across the state.

Mr Samuel Ibikunle, a market leader, said that all traders were happy with the development in the state.

“Traders in Ogun had never had it so good before the advent of the present administration, especially the new shopping mall built for traders as well as other facilities like modern toilets, security and empowerment of traders in the state.”

Mrs Folake Adediran expressed delight over the visit, thanking her for showing interest in the welfare of market women and for taking a tour round the market to sensitise traders to the PVC.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that materials such as commercial buckets were distributed by the wife of the governor, to empower the market women. (NAN)
