Enugu – Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has appealed to the sons and daughters of the state to partner with the government in its development strides by investing at home.
“We are calling on our illustrious sons and daughters to invest at home and be part and parcel of the commitment of this administration to develop the entire state,’’ Ugwuanyi said on Tuesday while inaugurating the 81-suite Elim Shopping Plaza in Enugu.
He noted that the government would continue to create investor-friendly environment while the administration would always open its doors to international and local investors.
“I personally congratulate Copen Group for this shopping edifice, the first of its kind in the state, as well as laud the group for being an ally to the state government in its development pledge to the people,’’ he added.
Ugwuanyi also used the occasion to thank the group for delivering a 100-unit housing estate to the state government to distribute to its civil servants.
Earlier, Dr Ifeanyi Okoye, the President of Enugu Chamber of Commerce, thanked the state government for its support and listening ear to the private sector and investors in the state.
“The plaza project would reduce unemployment, criminality and prostitution in the state since more than 300 breadwinners will be directly employed here while another 3,000 families would indirectly benefit from it,’’ he said.
The Director of Copen Group, Rev. Ugochukwu Chime, said that the plaza had a 500 KVA transformer, CCTV cameras, toilet facilities and recreation centres.
Chime noted that the group had created more than 10,000 jobs in the state through its on-going estates and plaza projects.
He noted that for 10 years, the group had built four estates with 800 units of houses in Enugu and Abuja.
“We will continue to invest and support the development of Enugu State by providing modern shopping centres and build low cost houses to cater for the housing deficit in the state.
