Abuja – The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) on Friday in Abuja said it was awaiting words from potential sponsors before it can begin the second phase of its senior national team’s camping.
Musa Ehizoje, the federation’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) the camping earlier scheduled to begin on Monday in Abuja has been postponed.
NAN reports that the team, which is preparing for the World Cricket Division Five League in Jersey this May had the first phase of camping from Jan. 31 to Feb. 14.
Fourteen players were selected for the second phase from the 22 invited for the first phase, while eight new players will join them in the second camp.
“We are awaiting the confirmation of some of our sponsors, in order to fix a proper date for the second camp.
“The last camp was sponsored by Sidoni Group, though we hope they will sponsor the next one. But we are expecting that other sponsors may show up soon,’’ Ehizoje said.

He also said the essence of the camping was to get the best players needed for the tournament.
NAN reports that the competition is a qualifier for teams to move into Division Four of the League.
NAN also reports that the competition has Nigeria, Oman, Tanzania, Suriname, Guernsey and hosts Jersey participating.
The top two teams at the championship will gain promotion to Division Four while last two teams will be relegated to the league’s Division Six.(NAN)
