Ilorin  – The new Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Mr Esosa Amadesu, has declared war against criminals in the state, saying there will be no hiding place for them.

Esosa made the remark on Monday during his maiden visit to newsmen at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents Chapel, Ilorin.

He declared that his command would not tolerate any form of criminal activities, be it rape, armed robbery, cultism, kidnapping and other heinous crime in Kwara.

He also vowed to fish out criminal hide out anywhere in the state.

“I am not just Commissioner of Police for policemen and women; I am Commissioner of Police for everybody in Kwara, including criminals,” he said.

He promised to undertake a tour of every formation in the command to familiarise himself with their problems and challenges and appealed to the people of the state to supply useful information to the police to combat crime.

“The public should work in concert with the police and other law enforcement agencies to fight crime effectively,’’ he said.

Esosa advised policemen and women not to allow lust of money to lure them into taking bribe, but should be satisfied with their salaries.

He said that an average policeman was better off than a bus driver and there was no need for them to demand gratification from drivers.
