Pankshin – Mr Jonathan Maiwuyau, Commissioner for Justice Plateau, on Wednesday reassured the people in the state Gov. Simon Lalong’s administration to ensure speedy dispensation of justice. Maiwuyau gave the re-assurance in Pankshin when he paid a courtesy call on the management committee chairman of the council, Mr Stephen Jings in Pankshin.
“This courtesy visit is deliberate and designed to seek the support of all the 17 local governments for our courts and state counsel for quick dispensation of justice,’’ he said.
Maiwuyau added that the visit was aimed at seeking partnership with the councils ‘’toward turning things around in the courts and state zonal offices.’’
“Most of our courts are still using the biro and papers instead of computers in their dealings with cases, this situation slows down dispensation of justice.’’
He appealed to Jings to assist the ministry in renovating the Pankshin Zonal office and furnish it with computers that would enable the lawyers computerise their cases.
According to him, the state legal personnel are at the service of all the councils and should be given the necessary support to discharge their services creditably.
The commissioner appealed to the council chairmen to include the State Counsel in the zonal offices in their security meetings.
Responding, Jings assured the commissioner of the readiness of the council to collaborate with the justice ministry for quick dispensation of justice.
Jings, who thanked the commissioner for the visit, pledged to look into the possible renovation of the State Counsel’s Zonal office in Pankshin ‘’within a short period.’’
