AKURE – As part of effort to improve security of lives and property in Ondo State, Sen. Boluwaji Kunlere (LP-Ondo), on Friday donated 13 Hilux Pick-Up vans to the Police Command in the State.
Presenting the vehicles,Kunlere said the vans would support security operatives in Ondo South Senatorial District.
He said the initiative was part of his campaign promises, adding that the effort would provide secured environment for the people in the district.
“Ondo State has been adjudged the most peaceful state in the Niger-Delta, but recent events has showed that activities of kidnappers and criminals are on the increase in the area.
“Therefore, as part of our contributions to reduce crime rates and ensure secured environment for the people, we have chosen to empower the 13 police divisions In the area.”
The senator said he spent N109 million on the purchase of the vehicle.
Receiving the vehicles, the commissioner of police in the state, Mr Isaac Eke, said the gesture had further confirmed the senator’s unwavering commitment to improve quality of live in the state.
Eke, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Al-hassan Momodu, said the command would make good use of the vehicles.(NAN)
