… As Senator Boroffice Accuses Akeredolu’s Aides of Assassination Attempt

By Chibuike Nwabuko

Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Senator Shehu Sani has reportedly intensified efforts to convince the Kaduna state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to give him a return ticket to the Senate in 2019.

Sources within the party reportedly told Leadership that the senator representing Kaduna central senatorial zone has become increasingly desperate as the date for the APC Senate primaries draws nearer.

He has recently recruited Kano Governor , Abdullahi Ganduje and Katsina Governor, Aminu Masari to intercede with President Buhari on his behalf. But this ran into the same obstacles his other emissaries have encountered,” a party source who does not want to be identified stated.

Another party member who also does not want his name disclosed said Senator Aliyu Wammako has also spoken to Buhari on Shehu Sani’s behalf.

“The problem all the interventions encountered is that Shehu Sani had gone too far in burning his bridges in Kaduna. It is said that a compendium of his comments since 2015 ridiculing Buhari himself, the APC and Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai had been circulated to key leaders,” the party member said.

“This document showed that Shehu Sani does not hold even the President in high esteem. So his recent good-boy posture is being dismissed as just the desperate actions of a man who wants to remain in the Senate.”

However, Senator Shehu Sani has dismissed reports that he is desperate to get the APC senatorial ticket ahead of 2019 polls.

Speaking through his special adviser, Comrade Suleiman Ahmed, the lawmaker said the accusations against him in the media were false and baseless.

In another development, Senator Ajayi Boroffice representing Ondo North In the National Assembly, has alleged that some aides of Governor Akeredolu have a case to answer over a reported failed assassination attempt on his life.

The lawmaker said statements credited to the Ondo state commissioner for information and the chief press secretary (CPS) to the governor on the attempt on his life neither cleared nor dissociated their boss from the alleged attack.

The Nation reports that the APC senator in a statement through his media aide also faulted a faction of the party for failing to condemn the attack.
