Wukari (Taraba) – Food items,grinding machines and hospital equipment worth N100 million were on Saturday distributed free to women and youths of Taraba South Senatorial District by Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha.
Bwacha, the Senate Deputy Minority Leader, at the presentation of the at Wukari Recreation Centre, said he gave out 177 sewing machines, 3,600 bags of rice, hundreds of grinding machines and seven ambulances as part of efforts to alleviate poverty among the people and provide some essential services particularly in the health sector.
“As the representative of the people, I am duty bound to assist the electorate especially as the economic recession is biting hard.
“The sewing and grinding machines will go a long way in providing self-employment to women and youths in Wukari, Ibi, Donga, Takum, Ussa Local Government Areas as well as the Yangtu Special Development Area which constitute my senatorial district,” he said.
He explained that the ambulances would help in addressing the challenges faced in conveying patients to health facilities during emergencies.
The Chief of Ibi, Alhaji Abubakar Danbawuro, who spoke on behalf of traditional rulers in the area, commended the senator for his contributions to the welfare of the people.
He also urged other politicians to emulate Sen. Bwacha by returning to their constituencies to give back to them in a bid to improve the standard of living of the people.
