Kano Pillars striker Ubong Ekpai has stated that his goal against Bayelsa United in the club’s first league game of the season last Saturday has healed the wound of his terrible experience with the armed robbers while expressing his readiness for the season.
Ekpai was among the five players that were injured in the aftermath of the armed robbery attack on the team on the Abuja- Lokoja road recently on their way to Owerri for a league tie with Heartland.
He was shot alongside Gambo Mohammed, Eneji Otekpa, Murtala Adamu and Reuben Ogbonnaya but recovered miraculously and even resumed training few days after the incident.

“I am over the episode and the goal has healed my wound. It was a timely goal and I have rededicated my life to continue to help Kano Pillars to achieve set target in as much as I remain injury free,” , Ekpai told Goal.com.
The one-time Akwa United striker said he was happy to be alive to tell the story adding that their near death experience has shown him other things about life and that he won’t like to wish his enemy such.
