Tunis – Tunisian Prime Minister, Habib Essid, on Thursday declared that threat of terrorist groups against the North African country was permanent.
Speaking to the Tunisian Parliament, he underlined the authorities’ determination to fight terrorists, adding that was why the government had declared a state of emergency.
“The rings of terrorism, killing and crimes are presently planning other operations which aim to kill the maximum number of people, sap the morale of Tunisians and block the foundations of the country’s economy,’’ Essib said.
The PM said the war against terrorism required patience and sacrifice in addition to strong measures needed to ensure permanent vigilance while being ever ready to react to situations.
He assured the citizens that the government would, during the state of emergency, respect the principles of the Constitution, adding that it would not compromise on liberties or block the democratic process. (PANA/NAN)
