Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to be out for two weeks with his knee injury. The Arsenal forward injured his knee in a clash with Carlos Gruezo but has not yet been ruled out of England’s trip to Brazil Oxlade-Chamberlain had a scan after England’s draw with Ecuador and it is believed the results showed a strain of his medial ligaments rather than a tear. That gives the Arsenal midfielder – who went to training with his team mates today with a brace on his right knee – hope of still making the World Cup. England boss Roy Hodgson may still have a decision to make as to whether it is a gamble to stick with Oxlade-Chamberlain or call-up another player.Hodgson could take Oxlade-Chamberlain to Brazil and still make a change as late as 24 hours before England’s first game against Italy on June 14. Oxlade-Chamberlain has at least done the intensive pre-World Cup training in Portugal and Miami but lacks match sharpness, having missed the end of the season for Arsenal. The training regime may give standby players Jon Flanagan and John Stones an edge on late call-ups because they have done the specialised training.
