You cannot disqualify me, candidate tells UPN

OSOGBO – Mr Ibrahim Adeoti, the Unity of Nigeria (UPN) candidate in Saturday’ governorship election in Osun, said on Friday the lacked the power to disqualify him.

Adeoti said this in Osogbo in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

NAN recalls the UPN, in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Dr Fredrick Fasheun, said it did not field any candidate to contest the election. He said he still in the race for Saturday’ election on the platform of UPN.

“On what ground can a candidate be disqualified barely 48 hours to an election by a political .

“The excuse of Dr Fasheun  that the that produced my candidacy flawed at the eve of election not only spurious but scandalous.

‘’ want to categorically to the people of Osun that remain the candidate of the UPN for the Aug.9 gubernatorial election in the state, and nothing can change that fact,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Niyi Opadokun, the Head, Department of Political at INEC office in Osogbo, told NAN that the commission had not received any letter the UPN disqualifying Adeoti.

He explained that Adeoti was still among the 20 candidates that would contest the election on the platform of UPN. (NAN)
