Ibadan – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has deployed 3,500 personnel to provide security for residents of the state during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The State Commandant of the corps, Mr John Adewoye, disclosed this in Ibadan on Thursday while addressing commanders and divisional officers.
Adewoye said the decision to deploy such number of officers was to ensure adequate protection of lives and property before, during and after the festivities.
He stated that the personnel included regular and undercover officers who were assigned on 24-hour surveillance and intensive patrols.
He assured that all the tourist and recreational centres, Churches and all entrances to the state would be well secured by armed men along with sniffer dogs.
The commandant advised the people of the state to give useful information to the corps and other security agencies so as to assist them in curbing crimes.
He also advised parents and guardians to warn their children and wards against the use of fire crackers during the festive season.
