Again, Police Arrest Adeyanju Over Protest Against Austin Okai’s Detention

Abuja (Sundiata Post) –  Convener of “Concerned Nigerians” and former Head of New Media of the People’s Democratic Party, Deji Adeyanju has been re-arrested for protesting against the police detention of Austin Okai.

He was picked up on Monday alongside his co-convener, Ariyo Raphael Dare in Abuja while staging a peaceful protest for the release of a renowned blogger, Austin Okai

Sundiata Post recalls that on Sunday, April 9, 2017, Mr. Okai was reportedly picked up and whisked away to Lokoja by security operatives after he was allegedly trailed to one of the eatery in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, where he had gone to eat with some of his friends.

Okai was arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) team led by ACP Kolo.
“Mr. Okai’s arrest, detention and subsequent transfer to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, was confirmed by the Officer in Charge of SARS in Abuja.

He was arrested over alleged criticisms of the government of Kogi State.

Based on the continued detention of Okai, Deji and his co-convener,  Ariyo Raphael Dare staged a peaceful protest for the release of the Okai in Abuja. It was in front of the National Human Rights Commision’s office in Abuja that the duo were arrested by FCT Police station.

Sundiata Post also recalls the Deji Adeyanju  was  arrested on the 21st of April for staging a peaceful protest against the planned secret trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu by the Buhari-led government and was later released same day.
