Omu-Aran (Kwara State) – Airtel Nigeria, on Friday, said it was committed to providing unhindered access to quality, flexible and affordable data services to meet global standards, especially at the grassroots.
Mrs Tolu Adeniyi, the Airetel Zonal Business Manager in the Western Region, made the pledge during the launch of the company’s service Centre in Omu-Aran, Kwara.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the centre, meant for Kwara South Senatorial District communities, was established in partnership with an Omu-Aran-based telecom business centre – Heaven Open.
Adeniyi noted the need to reduce unnecessary difficulties by subscribers in accessing the company’s value-added services and products informed the establishment of the centre.
She pointed out that some communities across the country had continued to witness expansion and infrastructure development in terms of human and material resources.
“This move has attracted mass influx of youths, especially artisans, into the communities, seeking greener pastures,’’ she said.
Adeniyi observed that there was a recent upsurge in data usage by telecom subscribers, who engage in communication through social media, stressing that the development had caused massive expansion to service providers.
“It is a well-known fact that many subscribers in remote towns and communities are now competing with their counterparts in urban centres for telecommunication services.
“The upsurge in data usage is occasioned by subscribers who engage in interactions via social media, like facebook, what’s App, and other applications.
“It is in recognition of this fact that, Airtel telecommunication Ltd., deemed it fit to give birth to this partnership to assist our people at the grassroots,’’ she said.
Mr Rotimi Womiloju, the company’s Territorial Manager in Kwara South, assured subscribers of bringing about the desired succour to them.
