The Nigeria Football Federation has extended invitations to foreign-based professionals to boost the Super Falcons ahead of their African Women Championship qualifier against Rwanda.
The Super Falcons have struggled in recent tune-up games, and battled to beat Cameroon 1-0 in a friendly on Tuesday in Abuja.
Coach Edwin Okon’s team will now be bolstered with more experienced legs, to add to the 24 players already in camp, as they welcome their counterparts from Rwanda.
The players invited are: Perpetua Nkwocha (Sunnana SK, Sweden), Sarah Micheal (KIF Orebro, Sweden), Francisca Ordega (Pitea IF, Sweden), Onome Ebi (Minsk FC,Belarus), Osinachi Ohale (Houston Dash, United States), Faith Ikidi (Pitea IF, Sweden), Desire Oparanozie (Atasehir Belediyespor, Turkey) and Helen Ukaonu (Sunnana SK, Sweden).
The Super Falcons will face the She-Amavubi of Rwanda on May 24 for a slot at the 2014 African Women Championship to be hosted by Namibia later in the year. And Okon insists that the foreign-based recruits must report early to camp in order to ascertain their fitness level, adding that only players who are able to prove themselves will be selected for the qualifier.
